Coming to Montbeliard in December, you will celebrate Christmas like when you were a child and be captiva-ted by one of the most authentic Christmas markets in France. Montbeliard used to be an old Alemannic principality for over four centuries and per-petuates the tradition, allowing you to go back in time.
Close your eyes and listen to the sound of small bells, the noise of the hoofs on the cobblestones, the laugh-ters of children. Smells of wood, cinnamon and mulled wine... Remember the freshness of snow .akes that melt in your mouth, the warmth of the stove roasting the chesnuts... Come and taste the savoury delights and all the other specialities of the Franche-Comte region.
The Christmas Market in Montbeliard is very tradi-tional. Over 130 craftsmen set up their wooden stalls around Saint Martin Church, the oldest Lutheran church in France. In 2005, Canada will be our guest of honour. In front of the Halles, you will .nd Cana-dian food specialities, a saphouse, teepees with Amerindian art...
The Christmas Market will entertain you with street shows, the Parade of Lights, exhibitions of cribs... You will meet Saint Lucia and Aunt Airie, the Montbeliard good fairy. At nightfall, you will be amazed.
